objective review
Document Information Review
Once the review set has been established there are 2 types of managed review that we offer:
1. objective
2. subjective
Unlike other firms, lmi strongly believes that review teams should work together on-site (either in the clients space if requested, or in lmi’s offices). In our opinion a quality product can only be created when team members work together to create a consistent process and are able to continually learn from each other as the work progresses. It also allows for proper evaluations of individual’s performance and a secure environment. This level of control cannot be properly maintained when “team” members are required to work alone in their own homes and are just a faceless IP address to the service provider.
Objective Review
Objective review is the most labour intensive stage in document review. It refers to the bare bones “coding” of information that cannot be captured programmatically. lmi’s experienced teams of paralegals and law clerks review documents to establish where a document begins and ends (often referred to as “unitization”) and enter the “tombstone” data (document type, date, author, recipient, and title) that is essential to creating an index suitable for future use.
lmi keeps the teams happy (and alert!) with unlimited lattes, cappuccinos and espressos
An objective review may occur before or after subjective review. If you have mainly “hard copy” documents, “unitization” is necessary before it can be passed on for subjective review. If the documents are primarily electronic files such as emails, the unitization already exists and accordingly it is possible to perform a subjective review for relevancy and only pass on relevant documents for objective review treatment.
